On Monday January 16, 2012, the Oswego Public Library will be hosting a Mini Golf Event on Martin Luther King’s Day to sponsor the Children’s Room.
The children in our area will have the day off from school, and our library…which is usually closed on that day, will be open from 10am to 4pm for families to come and play 18 holes of miniature golf in the library! Karen Swartz talks about how the idea came about, “My mom’s library in Cape Cod does this fundraiser every year, Carol, the library’s director, and I talked about it, and here we are!”
Thanks to the main sponsors; Oswego Classroom Teachers Association, OCTA, and Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, floor sponsors; Wal-Mart, Stewart’s, BPO Elks Club No 271, Price Chopper, and over 20 hole sponsors, the library will be open to the community for this special family event. The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a bake sale in the community room where refreshments will be sold.
The library will be closed for regular activities. The cost will be $5.00 per person, $20.00 cap for a family, and with your library card, it will only be $3.00 per person. There will be a library staff person to sign patrons up who do not have a card. This will be an opportunity for the community to come together for both fun and to support all of the Children’s Room activities throughout the year.
