OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s soccer team lost a tough 1-0 battle against Morrisville State on Wednesday afternoon at home. With the loss, the Lakers drops to 1-4 on the year while Morrisville moves to 4-1.
Despite the loss, Oswego outshot the Mustangs 11-8. Andrew Moorman and Jim Manton tied for the Laker lead in shots, each taking two.
Connor Lunduski and Rob Dezendorf would provide Oswego with its two shots-on-goal, as both squads played impressive defense throughout the contest.
Manton and Dezendorf had two of the Lakers’ best opportunities, only to be taken away by good defensive plays. Manton settled the ball in the box early in the first half and blasted it towards the post with the goalie playing towards the center of the net. A Mustang defender was able to barely head the ball out of bounds to the end line, taking Manton’s chance away.
In the second half, Dezendorf settled a loose ball just outside the 18′ and rifled a shot that was tailing away from the keeper and towards the far post.
Morrisville’s goalie had to dive with outstretched arms to nab the ball just before it found the back of the net.
Oswego will look to get back in the win column when it travels to Utica College for a 7 p.m. nonconference contest on Saturday.
