Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deadly car crash that occurred on County Route 11 in the town of West Monroe Wednesday night.
The Sheriff’s Office has tentatively identified the victim as a North Carolina resident.
Positive identification of the victim is pending, and Investigators are working closely with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office in their efforts.
The vehicle’s speed continues to be a focus as a contributing factor in the crash.

On Wednesday, at about 8:45 p.m. members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle on County Route 11 near Smith Road in the town of West Monroe.
The vehicle involved had been travelling North on County Route 11 when it failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the roadway, and overturned in to a tree.
The driver and single occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Speed is regarded as a contributing factor.
Members of the West Monroe Fire Department, Brewerton Ambulance, and Oswego County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.

WEST MONROE, NY – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what is believed to be a one-vehicle fatal crash in West Monroe.
The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. today (July 11) at County Route 11 and Smith Road.
Authorities haven’t released any further informatin tonight.
