Motorama Kart Championships Attract Oswego Kartway Drivers

OSWEGO, NY – The nation’s largest all indoor motorsports event will take place February 21-22 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s Farm Show Complex, featuring two days of intense wheel-to-wheel kart racing with a collection of drivers from Oswego Kartway looking to make the trek south down I-81.

As many as five Oswego Kartway contenders are preparing to make the southward journey including MDR Motorsports teammates DJ Shuman and Ricky Pritchard, MBR Speed Shop drivers Chris Natoli and Dan Kapuscinski, as well as Tyler Emmons.

Both Shuman and Pritchard will once again compete in Clone engine divisions this year with Shuman taking on Clone Heavy and Pro Clone and Pritchard in Clone Light and Pro Clone.

Shuman recently snagged a podium finish at the Syracuse Indoor Winter Nationals in Clone Super Heavy while also putting together a nice sixth place finish in the Pro Clone division at the New York State Fairgrounds.

Pritchard, the reigning Fall Frenzy 100 Clone champion at Oswego Kartway, grabbed a pair of top ten finishes at Syracuse in December in Clone Heavy and Pro Clone.

One year ago Pritchard scored a pair of podium finishes at Motorama.

Oswego Kartway’s Fall Frenzy 100 flathead champion Chris Natoli will be in his first indoor action of the winter season this weekend, taking on Stock Heavy and Pro Flathead with the No. 33.

Last year Natoli qualified for the Pro Flathead main at Syracuse, and narrowly missed qualifying for the Motorama main event after leading much of the day’s first B-Main qualifier.

Kapuscinski will again see action in Stock Super Heavy and Pro Flathead at Motorama. The former Kartway track champion took third in Stock Super Heavy at Syracuse in December, but ended the night with a disappointing 12th place finish in his first Pro start.

Last year Kapuscinski took second at Motorama in Stock Super Heavy, while missing the Pro main event by one position in the B-Main.

Young Emmons will be in his first action at Motorama this year, driving in both Junior Clone Purple Light and Heavy. Emmons finished third at Syracuse in December in Junior Purple Clone with his No. 99.

Kart action at Motorama will kick off on February 21 with hot laps and qualifying heats for the nearly 30 divisions in competition. Friday’s schedule will also feature qualifying time trials for the $500 to win Pro main events in Clone and Flathead.

Feature racing action will take place on February 22 culminating with the Pro Flathead main, won in 2014 by Shawn Nye who held off Jason Higgy, Alex Carmody, Todd Crenshaw, and Jon Keister for the win.

Nye took Pro Flathead honors at Syracuse as well this past December.
