Motorcyclist Airlifted to Upstate Medical Center after West Monroe Crash

HASTINGS, NY – State Police in Hastings are investigating a car/motorcycle personal injury motor vehicle accident which occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of State Route 49 and Whig Hill Road in the Town of West Monroe.

The investigation revealed Lindsay N. Perry, 17, of 66 Maplewood Road in West Monroe, was operating a black 2007 Chrysler Seabring eastbound on 49 awaiting traffic to clear before turning left, (north), onto Whig Hill Road when she failed to observe a 2002 Honda motorcycle driven by Michael J Bellomo, 57, of 459 S. Main St., in North Syracuse, and turned into his path failing to yield the right of way.

Bellomo was unable to avoid the vehicle and struck Perry in the rear passenger door, ejecting him from the motorcycle causing severe injuries.

He was transported to University Hospital in Syracuse via New York State Police Division helicopter and was listed in serious condition.

The investigation is continuing, charges against Lindsay Perry are pending at this time.
