HANNIBAL – Hannibal Central School District Food Service Director Nancy Younglove arrived in August with a passion for providing nutrition to children.
An employee of the Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Cooperative Educational Services, Younglove is now shared with the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District.
She has 17 years of food service director experience, and back in her home state of Michigan she ran senior nutrition programs.
“I really do enjoy working with kids and being able to provide meals they may never have exposure to,” she said. “I know how important it is when a child feels secure in school.”
Younglove said she is excited to roll out menus each month, and aims to provide healthy and appetizing meals that fall in line with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.
Continuous nutritional analysis goes into each menu, she said, with fruits or vegetables required for both breakfast and lunches.
Younglove will be installed as vice president of the New York School Nutrition Association in November, and is a member of the national School Nutrition Association.
She also sits on the board for the Wayne County Cooperative Extension’s health coalition, and is a proponent of child-accessible food pantries within schools.
