The program will be held in the Community Room at 120 E. Second St. and is free and open to the public.

The Friends of the Library will provide light refreshments and introduce Davis.

She has logged more than 12,000 miles on six different continents, including through-hikes of the Pacific Crest Trail, the Colorado Trail, Vermont’s Long Trail, numerous trails in Europe and the Appalachian Trail three times.

In 2011, Jennifer wanted to test her physical limits.

With the help of her husband, Brew, and a dedicated group of friends, she set the fastest known time (male or female) on the Appalachian Trail by hiking 47 miles a day for 46 days straight.

She has written two memoirs, Becoming Odyssa and Called Again.

In her latest book, The Pursuit of Endurance: Harnessing the Record Breaking Power of Strength and Resilience, Davis reveals the secrets and habits behind endurance as she chronicles her incredible accomplishments in the world of endurance hiking, backpacking and trail running.

With a storyteller’s ear for fascinating detail and description, Davis takes readers along as she trains and sets her record, analyzing and trail-testing the theories and methodologies espoused by her star-studded roster of mentors.

She distills complex rituals and histories into easy to understand tips and action items that will help you take perseverance to the next level.

The Pursuit of Endurance empowers readers to unlock phenomenal endurance and leverage new-found grit to achieve personal bests in everything from sports and family to the boardroom.

Her hour-long program will involve storytelling, slide shows, readings from her book and Q&A.

Following the program, she will be signing copies of The Pursuit of Endurance, which Kirkus Reviews calls “a captivating narrative guidebook that will inspire readers to test their own limits, on the trail and off.”

For her adventures, Davis has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, NPR’s Talk of the Nation, ESPN, and the CBS Early Show.

She is founder and owner of Blue Ridge Hiking Company (www.blueridgehikingco.com), an Asheville, North Carolina-based guiding service whose mission is “to make the wilderness accessible and enjoyable through the written and spoken word, instruction and guiding” for hikers of all ages, genders, and ability levels.

She lives in Asheville, North Carolina, with her husband, their five-year-old daughter, Charley, and their one-year-old son, Gus.
