ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s soccer team (1-3-0) fell behind early and could not catch up, dropping its third straight contest of the season, 3-0, to Nazareth (3-0-0) on Saturday.
The Golden Flyers got on the scoreboard early and never looked back, continuing their undefeated campaign. The first goal of the game came in the fifth minute when James Wheeler assisted a Shane Mead goal.
Wheeler tallied the second goal of the game off an assist from Luke Elston in the 14th minute. Elston also found the back of the net, scoring the third goal of the half at 23:23. Wheeler assisted the goal, his second of the game.
Nazareth out-shot Oswego State 15-9 in the game, but the Lakers took seven corner kicks in the contest compared to just two for the Golden Eagles.
Freshman Patrick Sprague (Spencerport, N.Y.) paced the Lakers with four shots, two of which were on goal.
Senior P.J. Goodwin (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) finished the game with five saves for the Lakers. J.P. Horan logged a shutout win for the Golden Flyers with two saves.
Oswego State hits the road to take on Morrisville on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
