OSWEGO, NY – The next meeting of the Oswego Community Neighborhood Watch Program will focus on the city’s Nuisance Abatement ordinance.
“We will be meeting at the Oswego Public Library down stairs in the Community Room on Nov. 10 from 6 – 8 p.m. We’ll learn about what the Nuisance Abatement ordinance actually covers as well as some of the other laws of Oswego,” explained Betty Gray, coordinator. “Guest speakers will be Sgt. Bateman of the police department and (First Ward) Councilor Connie Cosemento.”
Gray describes the group as “neighbors helping neighbors.”
“Neighborhood Watch is a program is for the whole city,” she said. “Everyone is welcome to attend and our college students are welcome because they are part of our community, too.”
Communication means a lot to a neighborhood watch program, she noted, adding that, for example, if more people understood what the Nuisance Abatement ordinance entailed and what the consequences were for violating it, perhaps certain problems would be reduced.
She said she hopes more people will get involved in the group.

In case of emergency, she added, call 911.
