New Oswego County Facebook Page Informs Public of Local Programs

OSWEGO – The Oswego County Public Information Office has created a new Facebook page to inform the public of county government events and announcements via social media. Facebook users can find the page at and are encouraged to “like” the page.

“The Facebook page will be a great tool to quickly distribute important county information that may be timely, such as such as health or weather emergencies, civil service exams, and other events that impact the public,” said Kara Alheim, Oswego County Public Information Officer. “We want to encourage people to like and share the page so they can have a better, quicker way to stay up-to-date with important county events.”

The page will include information from various county departments and agencies, including material from the Emergency Management, Health, Board of Elections, County Legislature, Human Resources and Public Information offices.

The site is administered by the Public Information Office. It differs from the pre-existing Oswego County Tourism Facebook site ( in that the new page will focus on county government information rather than visitor information.
