OSWEGO — Port City Roller Derby, formerly known as the Oz Roller Girls, will start a six-week training session for junior roller derby skaters ages 10 to 18 on Oct. 6.
Training sessions will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays as well as a weekday evening to be determined at the Cove in Oswego’s Midtown Plaza.
Organizers are polling skaters and parents who have signed up to date for the best evening.
Cost for the six-week session is $100 and includes a team T-shirt.
Previous skating ability is not required.
Training will include basic skills, rules, teamwork and tactics.
Port City is working on scheduling a scrimmage against another junior derby league.
More training sessions will be announced in the future.
