OSWEGO, NY – Local attorney and community volunteer Allison J. Nelson has announced her candidacy for Oswego County Family Court Judge in 2018.

A lifelong Oswego County resident, Nelson has been practicing law for nearly 19 years and established Nelson Law Firm in 2011.
“I have seen firsthand many of our community’s children and families when they are experiencing the most unsafe and unstable time in their lives,” Nelson said. “I am aware that the decisions made in our Family Court have lifelong effects.”
“Through my experience in Family Court and my representation of numerous local municipalities, I am acutely aware of the issues that our children and community face,” Nelson added. “As a result, I am well prepared for this court, in terms of both experience and temperament.”
Nelson, a Republican, is a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, SUNY Geneseo and the Syracuse University College of Law.
She is currently the owner of Nelson Law Firm located at 209 W. Seventh St. in Oswego.
She is a past president of the Oswego County Bar Association and serves on the board of directors of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Oswego County Children’s Fund and St. Luke’s Health Services.
She is a past member of the board of directors of Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County and the Greater Oswego/Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
The daughter of local business owners Garry and Connie Stanard, Nelson resides in Volney with her husband, Christopher, and their two children.
