ALTMAR, PARISH, WILLIAMSTOWN – Following is a message from APW CSD Superintendent Naomi Ryfun concerning a verbal threat  occurring between high school students yesterday, April 13:

April 13, 2023

Dear APW Community,

Today a student in the High School made a verbal threat to others, and through our partnership with local law enforcement agencies, police responded to investigate.

Threats against schools are treated very seriously, and students who are determined to make such threats face consequences through our school’s Code of Conduct, as well as potential legal consequences.

This is an opportune time to discuss this situation with your children and emphasize that there are severe consequences of such actions. Please remind your children about the importance of reporting any suspicious or potentially threatening activity to an adult as soon as possible.

Please know that the safety of our students and staff is a primary concern and threats of violence, even if deemed not credible, are given utmost attention. School will be in session Friday, April 14. Our counselors and SEL staff will be available for students who may need support.

We are grateful for the cooperation and assistance of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, our School Patrol Officer, administration, staff, and students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the district office at (315) 625-5251.

Sincerely,

Dr. Naomi Ryfun
APW Superintendent of Schools
