OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 58 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.
Today there are currently 499 active cases in Oswego County.
SUNY Oswego reported one new case since yesterday.
“The recent rise in positive cases is disproportionate to the population size and density of our county,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “We are a small rural county with limited resources. Our staff is working seven days a week to quickly investigate cases and prevent the virus from spreading; while other county departments have been coming to support the Health Department.”
He asked that everyone in the community “support public health and our health care providers by cooperating with contact tracers, following isolation and quarantine orders, and doing what they can to prevent the spread of the virus. We all need to make sure that our first responder and emergency medical systems remain intact in this wave of COVID-19 surge.”
Today’s statistics are below:
Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
