OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 73 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.
Today there are currently 526 active cases in Oswego County.
SUNY Oswego reported one new case since yesterday.
Yesterday, Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, “December and January and February are going to be rough times. I actually believe they’re going to be the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation, largely because of the stress that it’s going to put on our health care system.”
Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang added, “We have challenges ahead of us. Locally, we saw a small dip for the first two days of December after the record-breaking peak at the end of November. However, the single-day case numbers of yesterday and today show an upward trend. For the safety of yourself and your loved ones, and for the community, you must wear a face mask over your nose and mouth in public, wash your hands frequently and practice social distancing. Social gatherings of any size – even between family members who don’t live together – are not recommended. We all need to practice these measures. They are imperative if we want to preserve our local first response teams and health care system.”
Today’s statistics are below:
Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
