COVID-19 Statistics Update, July 6, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m. today, there have been two additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Friday, July 3.

The cumulative reported number is 208 cases across the county and of those, 191 have recovered and four have died.

The county did not release any COVID-19 statistics this past Saturday or yesterday and had done a limited statistics release Friday.

Today’s statistics are below.

Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers.

  • Total # of active cases: 13 (July 2: 19)
  • Total # of positive cases: 208 (July 3: 206)
  • Total recoveries: 191 (July 2: 183)
  • Total # of deaths: 4 (no change)
  • Total # people tested: 17,179 (July 2: 16,343)
  • Total # of negative results: 16,796 (July 2: 15,960)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 63 (July 2: 116)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 52 (as of July 2)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 2,273 (as of July 2)

The county has stopped releasing data for pending results, number of people in precautionary quarantine and total number completed/released from monitoring. Data will not be released on Sundays. Antibody test results are released once a week.

All known contacts of COVID-19 positive patients are being notified. In the event that a known case had public exposure when they were contagious, such as someone who worked in a restaurant, the county health department would alert citizens through the news media and social media.

Areas With Cases (alphabetical order):

COVID-19 has been identified in the cities of Fulton and Oswego and the towns of Boylston, Constantia, Granby, Hannibal, Hastings, Mexico, Minetto, New Haven, Orwell, Oswego, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Schroeppel, Scriba, Volney, West Monroe and Williamstown. (as of July 3)

The county does not release the town/city of individual cases. If there has been a new case and a new area has not been added, that means it is in an area that has already been affected before. Once an area is added it is not removed from the list because the county does not say when a town/city no longer has a case.

County Updates:

  • The next rabies clinic will be held Wednesday, July 15 at the Hannibal Town Highway Garage. Appointments are required. To make an appointment, call 315-349-3557 on weekdays. Face coverings and maintaining social distance will be mandatory.

  • Total # of positive cases: 397,649 (July 3: 395,872)
  • Total # of deaths: 24,913 (July 3: 24,885)

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today in a video brief[3] that the New York State Fair this summer has been cancelled.

  • Governor Cuomo has partnered with New Jersey Governor Murphy and Connecticut Governor Lamont to create a joint travel advisory for individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19, requiring a quarantine for 14 days when visiting their states.

    File a complaint against your employer or place of work[6].
  • Go to forward.ny.gov[7] to find out: Which phase of reopening your region is in; the industry guidance for each phase; regional dashboards for monitoring how the virus is being contained; and information on loans for small businesses.
  • New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health[8] through July 15, 2020; must apply within 60 days of losing coverage.
  • Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services. Any New Yorker can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314[9] for mental health counseling.
  • The deadline for New York State personal income tax and corporation tax returns has been extended from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020.

  • Total # of positive cases: 2,911,888 (July 3: 2,772,395)
  • Total # of deaths: 130,101 (July 3: 129,150)
  • Total # of recoveries: 906,763 (July 3: 781,970)

Worldwide:[11] (as of 3:33 p.m.)

  • Total # of positive cases: 11,520,461 (July 3: 10,951,467)
  • Total # of deaths: 535,499 (July 3: 523,100)
  • Total # of recoveries: 6,231,052 (July 3: 5,797,522)
