COVID-19 Statistics Update, June 22, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m. today, there have been four additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Saturday, June 20. The cumulative reported number is 173 cases across the county and of those, 123 people have recovered and three have died.

“Today’s report includes one new case from Champlain Valley Specialty, Inc.” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “We continue to investigate this cluster and expect the number to change over the next few days.”

Today’s statistics are below.

Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers.

  • Total # of active cases: 47 (June 19: 49)
  • Total # of positive cases: 173 (June 20: 169)
  • Total recoveries: 123 (June 19: 117)
  • Total # of deaths: 3 (no change since yesterday)
  • Total # people tested: 13,873 (June 19: 13,234)
  • Total # of negative results: 13,531 (June 19: 12,902)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 155 (June 19: 137)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 45 (as of June 18)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 1,974 (as of June 18)

The county has stopped releasing data for pending results, number of people in precautionary quarantine and total number completed/released from monitoring. Data will not be released on Sundays. Antibody test results are released once a week.

All known contacts of COVID-19 positive patients are being notified. In the event that a known case had public exposure when they were contagious, such as someone who worked in a restaurant, the county health department would alert citizens through the news media and social media.

Notice: All Oswego County government offices will be closed Friday, July 3, for Independence Day.

Areas With Cases (alphabetical order):

COVID-19 has been identified in the cities of Fulton and Oswego and the towns of Boylston, Constantia, Granby, Hannibal, Hastings, Mexico, Minetto, New Haven, Orwell, Oswego, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Schroeppel, Scriba, Volney, West Monroe and Williamstown.

The county does not release the town/city of individual cases. If there has been a new case and a new area has not been added, that means it is in an area that has already been affected before. Once an area is added it is not removed from the list because the county does not say when a town/city no longer has a case.

  • Total # of positive cases: 388,488 (June 20: 387,272)
  • Total # of deaths: 24,739 (June 20: 24,710)

Other updates[3] from the state include:

  • New York City, Mid-Hudson Valley and Long Island are in phase two of the state’s regional phased reopening plan[4]; the Capital Region, Western New York, Central New York, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, North Country, and Southern Tier are in phase three.
  • Governor Cuomo signs an Executive order[5] stating that businesses violating the reopening guidelines could result in immediate loss of their liquor license and a shut down order; the area immediately outside their locations are also the responsibility of the business.
  • Hospitals and group homes will be allowed to accept visitors at their discretion, while following state guidelines including time-limited visits and requiring visitors to wear PPE and be subject to symptom and temperature checks.
  • Governor Cuomo announced the implementation of a new early warning dashboard[6] to monitor and review how the virus is being contained on an ongoing basis.
  • The $100M New York Forward Loan Fund[7] will provide loans to small businesses, focusing on minority and women owned small businesses, that did not receive federal COVID-19 assistance.
  • The New York State sales tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15, 2020.
  • Governor Cuomo issued executive orders 202.17[8] and 202.18[9] requiring all people in New York to wear masks or face coverings in public[10], including when taking public or private transportation or riding in for-hire vehicles.
  • Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services.
  • New Yorkers can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314 for mental health counseling.
  • Testing is free for all eligible New Yorkers as ordered by a health care provider.

  • Total # of positive cases: 2,298,696 (June 20: 2,241,023)
  • Total # of deaths: 120,225 (June 20: 119,475)
  • Total # of recoveries: 622,133 (June 20y: 606,715)

  • Total # of positive cases: 9,015,582 (June 20: 8,753,394)
  • Total # of deaths: 469,378 (June 20: 461,786)
  • Total # of recoveries: 4,468,902 (June 20: 4,296,197)
