OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 104 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Saturday, November 21 (this includes Sunday and today.)

The number of new cases for Sunday was 66 (a new high) and today’s numbers add 38 positive cases.

Today there are 375 active cases across the county.

SUNY Oswego reported five new cases since Saturday.

“Nurses and investigators from the Health Department’s Preventive Division are diligently tracing positive cases, reaching out to each case’s close contacts and trying to protect the community,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “Many of our most recent investigations show that the virus is infiltrating households and spreading to all of its members. Please avoid non-essential social gatherings for your – and your loved one’s – health and safety. Once again, I implore my fellow residents to improve their preventive measures. Community prevention needs everyone to take action. Without that, we will not be able to contain the virus. This is the limit of public health. I cannot stress this enough. Please wear a face mask, social distance, avoid social gatherings, and wash your hands frequently.”

Today Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that parts of Onondaga County have been moved to an Orange Zone in the state’s Cluster Action Initiative[1] strategy. His briefing video can be viewed here[2].

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County:[3] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
