COVID-19 Statistics Update, October 21, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been five additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

The cumulative reported number is 742 cases across the county and of those, 696 have recovered and four have died.

SUNY Oswego reported one new case since yesterday.

“COVID-19 continues to spread throughout our communities,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “Small clusters in families, households and groups not related to the college are ongoing. In recent weeks most of the cases we have seen are adults in different towns across the county. As we re-open our society and increase our activities, we need to be cautious as the virus is still in our community… Everyone must remain diligent in practicing prevention measures. Frequent handwashing, face-masking and social distancing are the best tactics to help contain the spread of the coronavirus as well as seasonal influenza.”   

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.

  • Total # of active cases: 42 (yesterday: 38)
  • Total # of positive cases: 742 (yesterday: 737)
  • Total # of recoveries: 696 (yesterday: 695)
  • Total # of hospitalizations: 33 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # of deaths: 4 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # tests: 58,219 (yesterday: 57,800)
  • Total # of negative results: 57,311 (yesterday: 56,898)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 177 (yesterday: 165)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 86 (as of Oct. 15)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 3,426 (as of Oct. 15)
