OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 17 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Friday, October 23.
The cumulative reported number is 767 cases across the county and of those, 727 have recovered and four have died.
SUNY Oswego reported six new cases since Friday.
“Since our report last Friday, we’ve had 17 new reports of COVID-19,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “While this number is cumulative over the last three days, it shows us that the virus continues to spread throughout our communities. We must all remain diligent in practicing prevention measures. Frequent handwashing, face-masking and social distancing are the best tactics to help contain the spread of the coronavirus as well as seasonal influenza.”
The Mexico Academy and Central School District learned on Sunday, Oct. 25 from the Oswego County Health Department that one staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 and Palermo Elementary will move to a fully virtual model for the next two weeks. More information can be found here[1].
Today’s statistics are below:
Oswego County:[2] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
