COVID-19 Statistics Update, October 5, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been nine additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Oct. 2.

The cumulative reported number is 665 cases across the county and of those, 620 have recovered and four have died.

SUNY Oswego reported six new cases since Oct. 2.

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.

  • Total # of active cases: 41 (Oct. 2: 50)
  • Total # of positive cases: 665  (Oct. 2: 656)
  • Total # of recoveries: 620 (Oct. 2: 602)
  • Total # of hospitalizations: 33 (no change from Oct. 2)
  • Total # of deaths: 4 (no change from Oct. 2)
  • Total # tests: 50,948 (Oct. 2: 49,815)
  • Total # of negative results: 50,157 (Oct. 2: 49,037)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 199 (Oct. 2: 219)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 84 (as of Oct. 1)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 3,393 (as of Oct. 1)

6-10 confirmed cases: Mexico, New Haven

21-30 confirmed cases: Schroeppel

31-40 confirmed cases: Granby, Hastings

61-70 confirmed cases: City of Fulton

151-175 confirmed cases: City of Oswego, Oswego Town

SUNY Oswego Statistics[3]: (as of 3:35 p.m.)

  • Total number of active cases: 15 (Oct. 2: 25)
  • Total number of cumulative confirmed cases since Aug. 12: 290 (Oct. 2: 284)
  • Total number of tests: 10,014 (Oct. 2: 9,674)
  • Total number of recoveries: 275 (Oct. 2: 259)
  • Total number of confirmed cases Sept. 26 to Oct. 29: 39 (Oct. 2: 33)
    • students living on-campus: 33 (Oct. 2: 28)
    • students living off-campus while taking classes on-campus: 5 (Oct. 2: 4)
    • employees working on-campus: 0 (no change)
    • students living off-campus learning remotely: 1 (no change)
    • employees working remotely: 0 (no change)
  • Total number of on-campus quarantine rooms occupied: 27 (Oct. 2: 40)
  • Total number of on-campus isolation rooms occupied: 14 (Oct. 2: 19)
  • Total number of off-campus students in quarantine: 30 (Oct. 2: 45)
  • Total number of off-campus students in isolation: 1 (Oct. 2: 6)

  • Total # of positive cases: 465,515 (Oct. 2: 461,629)
  • Total # of deaths: 25,527 (Oct. 2: 25,497)

Other updates[6] from the state include:

  • Governor Cuomo has partnered with New Jersey Governor Murphy and Connecticut Governor Lamont to create a joint travel advisory for individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19, requiring a quarantine for 14 days when visiting their states.
  • Based on each region’s infection rate, schools across New York State are permitted to open this fall but must have a testing and tracing plan; a COVID Report Card[7] hosted by Department of Health will show COVID-19 positive case data for every school district in the state.
  • Indoor dining in New York City will be allowed to reopen starting September 30 with a 25 percent occupancy but will be subject to strict safety protocols.
  • New York City restaurant patrons who observe violations can report issues by calling 833-208-4160, or by texting ‘VIOLATION’ to 855-904-5036.
  • To report violations of health and safety restrictions and requirements for businesses, gatherings and individuals, please choose the appropriate link below:
    • File a complaint about a business, location or incident in your community[8].
    • File a complaint against your employer or place of work[9].
  • Go to forward.ny.gov[10] to find: Industry guidance on re-opening; regional dashboards for monitoring how the virus is being contained; and information on loans for small businesses.
  • New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health[11] through December 31, 2020; must apply within 60 days of losing coverage.
  • Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services. Any New Yorker can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314[12] for mental health counseling.

  • Total # of positive cases: 7,445,897 (Oct. 2: 7,312,444)
  • Total # of deaths: 210,013 (Oct. 2: 208,403)
  • Total # of recoveries: 2,911,734 (Oct. 2: 2,860,650)

  • Total # of positive cases: 35,330,119 (Oct. 2: 34,438,827)
  • Total # of deaths: 1,038,958 (Oct. 2: 1,025,183)
  • Total # of recoveries: 24,564,100 (Oct. 2: 23,909,013)
