COVID-19 Statistics Update, September 10, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 18 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

The cumulative reported number 394 is cases across the county and of those, 308 have recovered and four have died.

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County:[1] (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers.

  • Total # of active cases: 82 (yesterday: 68)
  • Total # of positive cases: 394 (yesterday: 376)
  • Total # of recoveries: 308 (yesterday: 304)
  • Total # of hospitalizations: 28 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # of deaths: 4 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # tests: 40,143 (yesterday: 39,984)
  • Total # of negative results: 39,573 (yesterday: 39,416)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 256 (yesterday: 218)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 82 (as of Sept. 10)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 3,281 (as of Sept. 10)

The county has stopped releasing data for pending results, number of people in precautionary quarantine and total number completed/released from monitoring. Data will not be released on Saturdays or Sundays. Antibody test results are released once a week.

In the event that a person who tests positive for COVID-19 had public exposure when they were contagious and the health department could not contact those at risk individually, a news release is issued. Investigations go back two days prior to symptom onset for symptomatic positive patients, or two days prior to testing for asymptomatic positive patients, up until the time a positive patient is isolated.

31-40 confirmed cases: Granby, Hastings

41-50 confirmed cases: Oswego Town

51-60 confirmed cases: No municipality

61-70 confirmed cases: City of Fulton, City of Oswego

SUNY Oswego Statistics[3]: (as of 5 p.m.)

  • Total number of tests: 6,290
  • Total number of confirmed cases since Aug. 28: 75
    • students living on-campus: 51
    • students living off-campus while taking classes on-campus: 15
    • employees working on-campus: 0
    • students living off-campus while taking online classes: 9
    • employees working remotely: 0
  • Total number of students in on-campus quarantine: 64
  • Total number of students in on-campus isolation: 49
  • Total number of recoveries: 3

Total on-campus cases counting toward the NYS 100-case[4] threshold to move to remote learning: 66

Other updates[6] from the state include:

  • Governor Cuomo has partnered with New Jersey Governor Murphy and Connecticut Governor Lamont to create a joint travel advisory for individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19, requiring a quarantine for 14 days when visiting their states.
  • Based on each region’s infection rate, schools across New York State are permitted to open this fall but each school district must have a testing and tracing plan and will decide if an in-person v. hybrid model works best for them while following strict Department of Health Guidance.
  • Indoor dining in New York City will be allowed to reopen starting September 30 with a 25 percent occupancy but will be subject to strict safety protocols.
  • New York City Restaurant Patrons Who Observe Violations Can Report Issues by Calling 833-208-4160, or by Texting ‘VIOLATION’ to 855-904-5036.
  • To report violations of health and safety restrictions and requirements for businesses, gatherings and individuals, please choose the appropriate link below:

  • New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health[10] through September 15, 2020; must apply within 60 days of losing coverage.
  • Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services. Any New Yorker can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314[11] for mental health counseling.
