OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 12 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.
The cumulative reported number 519 is cases across the county and of those, 403 have recovered and four have died.
SUNY Oswego announced today that the campus will be moving to remote learning for the next two weeks as a way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
“Today, SUNY Oswego President Deborah Stanley announced that the college is voluntarily pausing in-person instruction for 14 days, even though the campus has not reached the State’s 100-case threshold that would require the end of in-person instruction,” said Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup. “President Stanley is taking this action as a proactive step to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The County commends the president’s decision and the strong enforcement measures she has initiated. Pausing will help to slow down the spread of the disease. Our data shows a trend of increasing cases among students who live off-campus. Students must comply with health department isolation and quarantine orders, and everyone should keep practicing preventive measures, social distancing, face masking, and hand washing. By working together, we can help contain the spread of the disease.”
