Our coverage (here [1]and here[2]) of Cayuga Community College’s proposed $11 million move to River Glen Square shopping center left us with a couple of unanswered questions.  Thanks to college spokesperson Pam Freeman, we’ve got a couple of answers.

1.  We know CCC will buy the empty P&C store and we know that CCC would like to buy K-Mart’s space, if the store ever closes.  But what about the storefronts in between?

Says Freeman:

The initial purchase will be the 50,000-sf P&C store. In addition, we wish to lease the vacant storefronts at River Glen, with an eye toward possible eventual purchase of those. This area would extend to Dollar Tree and Kmart. We are negotiating right of first refusal for the Dollar Tree and Kmart stores.

CCC’s desire to lease the storefronts would affect one store — Radio Shack — the only retail space still in use besides Dollar Tree and K-Mart.

We’ll see what happens at the retail center after the Christmas season is over

2.  What about the space that CCC has spent lots of money to renovate at the Fulton Commons plaza?  Freeman:

The campus will remain at the current Fulton Commons location until we relocate to River Glen. At that time, we may wish to continue some operations at Fulton Commons, such as, perhaps, credit-free programs for community education and workforce development.

I’ve got a third question — perhaps a rhetorical question:  How do you think the folks that built a third Dunkin’ Donuts in Fulton, the one that’s right outside the current CCC building, are feeling about the news?
