Area Parents invited to Free Parent Information Sessions

FULTON, NY – The second annual Parent University will be held on April 16, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Fulton Junior High School.

All parents, grandparents, and professionals are invited to attend these free seminars.

Parent University registration will be from 9 – 9:30 a.m. with breakfast refreshments provided.

Nationally recognized speaker Chick Moorman will deliver the keynote address entitled “The 5 Commitments: Parenting with Purpose,” beginning at 9:45 a.m. in the cafeteria.

Parent seminar sessions will be held from noon – 1:45 p.m.

Participants will be able to choose from eight topics during each of the sessions.

Session topics include:
Board of Education Round Table Discussion
Chick Moorman: Good Praise/Bad Praise
Chick Moorman: Eliminating Negative Behaviors
Helping Your Child with Math
Understanding Conflict and Bullying: Supporting Safe, Healthy Children
Academic Goal Setting for Students in the Fulton City School District
Understanding Graduation Requirements in NYS
Technology Tools to Help Your Child at Home

Supervised activities for children ages 4 – 12 are available to engage children while parents participate in sessions.

Throughout the day, a community resource fair will provide information and activities sponsored by dozens of area agencies and organizations.

Helpful information and giveaways will be available.

In addition, parents and guardians will be able to register children for the Fulton City School District’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten program and kindergarten.

Parents/guardians should bring the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency.

All activities are free to participants.

Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Transportation will be available from the following locations: Volney School, Fairgrieve School, Price Chopper, Airport Road, Tractor Supply and Lanigan School.
