I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your support on May 20th as I seek election to the Fulton School Board. I have spoken with many voters during the last few months and am encouraged that this is a community that genuinely cares about the education our children are receiving.I have lived in Fulton since 1977 and graduated from this district. My husband and I both work in Fulton, have two adult children who attended Fulton schools K-12 and a younger son who attends G. Ray Bodley H.S. Our children’s educational experience has included special and regular education, music programs, athletics and other extracurricular activities.
I fully recognize and support the variety of educational opportunities offered by our school district. However, as someone who has voluntarily served on the Community Budget Task Force for the last two years I am ever mindful of our responsibility to keep a close eye on expenditures and revenues.
I am very aware of what the local taxpayer is currently contributing to fund our schools and how they have little to no room in their family budgets to contribute more. I will work to strike this delicate balance between fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers, educational opportunity for our students, and fair pay and benefits for the professionals who dedicate their careers to our children.
Lastly, I want to say thank you to those I was able to meet with and have sign my petition to be placed on the ballot. We all have a tremendous opportunity to make choices by voting for a candidate that represents us; please take the time to vote on May 20th.
Thank you,
Rae Howard
