CONSTANTIA – The Oswego County Health Department announced Aug. 8 that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake in the town of Constantia has been re-opened to swimming.

“We received test results this afternoon from water samples that were taken on August 6,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “These results, combined with the visual inspection done that same day, show that the water is now safe for swimmers.”

An advisory was issued on July 15 for people and animals to stay out of the water due to the presence of algae blooms.

Exposure to blue-green algae blooms can cause skin or eye irritation, or vomiting and diarrhea if ingested.

Residents were advised to remain out of the water until the blooms had cleared.

For more information, call the Oswego County Health Department at 315-349-3557 weekdays.
