A Sterling woman who kept working after claiming she was too disabled to work as a letter carrier will spend time in prison.
Tracey Raponi was sentenced to 18 months in prison with three years of supervised release after she gets out. She could have received up to five years in prison. She was also ordered to pay back $326.467.88.
Raponi pleaded guilty to one of the six counts against her, workers compensation fraud.
Prosecutors claimed, and Raponi admitted, that she worked at her husband’s dog breeding, training and boarding business while she was out of work on disability from the Fulton Post Office.
She must report to prison on October 24.
Her husband, Gale, was also charged in the case. His sentencing was delayed to October 26. He admitted to a single count of making a false statement. He could receive up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced.
