Foster Park Fills With Hundreds for ‘A Day in the Park’

FULTON, NY – “It was a fabulous Day in Foster Park!” said Kelley Weaver, President of Friends of Fulton Parks.
Recently, the volunteer non-profit group aimed at restoring Fulton’s parks hosted “A Day in the Park” at Foster Park offering a free evening of fun for all.
“Many groups, organizations, and individuals each brought their piece to the puzzle and the result was an afternoon filled with family, friends, fun, and physical activity in Foster Park,” Weaver said. “The event was a success because of everyone who was involved, and the Oswego Federal Credit Union who sponsored the event.”
With that sponsorship, the event provided music by KingKat DJ and boasted an inflated obstacle course, horse rides, G&G Animal Show, face painting, a dunk tank, various sports activities, lawn games, snow cones, and more.
“At Oswego County Federal Credit Union we feel the need to give back to the community in any way that we can. Having recently opened a branch here in Fulton, we wanted to really establish ourselves as part of the Fulton family and this was a great way to do that,” said Ashley Galloway, branch manager of the Oswego OCFCU location.
Aside from all the free fun, food was available for purchase from a local food truck, Tricky Dick’s Roadside Grille.
Guests filed in by the hundreds to take advantage of the fun.
Some kids organized their own kickball game on the softball field while others played on the swings and playground equipment.
Local organizations stationed at the park offered more activities and information for those in attendance.
“This was fantastic,” said First Ward councilor, Tom Kenyon who attended the event with other city officials including Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. “Friends of Fulton Parks did an amazing job with this one. This is what we should be doing every weekend! A true community event for the kids.”
As part of the overall vision of FoFP, the group intends to restore Fulton’s parks to community areas of family fun and physical activity to enhance a community wide sense of wellness.
This year’s “A Day in the Park” event was a clear snapshot into the group’s intended mission for Fulton’s parks.
“That is our vision for Fulton’s parks,” Weaver said.
