This course is a community service available to youth throughout Central New York sponsored by a grant from NRG Energy. The Oswego Maritime Foundation began this program in 1985 and it continues today.
This introductory five-hour, two day course focuses on boating and personal water safety as the students are introduced to sailing fundamentals, safe boat handling and basic water survival; all serving to help the student determine if they are interested in pursuing additional instruction. The course is open to students 9 to 17 years of age who have not previously participated in this or other Oswego Maritime Foundation courses. There is a $10.00 commitment fee, refundable on completion of the course or applicable toward course fees for additional instruction.
The course is taught by experienced US Sailing Association certified instructors. The time and enrollment is very limited as this course fills very quickly each year. Early enrollment is strongly encouraged to ensure a spot in the course.
Classes available this year are: June 30-July 1, or July 2-3. The AM Session is 9:00-11:30 or the Afternoon Session is 1:00-3:30.
Call the Oswego Maritime Foundation at 315-342-5753 to register.
