Fulton Common Council members handled a handful of minor items at their meeting May 18.
They held a public hearing on a plan to amend the city Charter to allow the city to pick up garbage from a small number of homes outside the city that receive city water and sewer service.
No one showed up to speak at the public hearing — the entire audience consisted of this reporter, the contractor who videotapes the meetings and a woman who sat in the back of the room but who did not speak.
The city has been picking up the garbage for years but failed to amend the Charter to do so. Aldermen approved the change after hearing from the public — or not.

Aldermen spent an hour behind closed doors discussing what was described as personnel matters involving the Recreation, Code Enforcement and Fire departments, but took no action after returning from the executive session. They met with City Attorney David Hawthorne.
