FULTON – Today Fulton City School District Superintendent Brian Pulvino sent out the following letter to the FCSD community, saying all students at Fulton Junior High School and G. Ray Bodley High School (grades 6-12) will learn  remotely through the holiday break, with plans to return January 5.

The letter is as follows:

Dear FCSD Families and Staff:

As you are aware, COVID infection rates in our county and region continue to be concerning. We have had a  number of incidents of exposure that have impacted school in recent days. We have communicated with you as we have learned of them. We have also had staff and students required to quarantine for exposures that did not impact the school setting.

Today we also learned that a student who attends G. Ray Bodley High School tested positive. The student was last in school on December 9. Contact tracing is underway. Staff and families of impacted students will be contacted by a FCSD staff member and the Oswego County Department of Health (DOH) and/or a NYS Contact  Tracer.

As a result of the number of staff and students presently in quarantine, and the case evaluations and contact tracing currently in progress, we are taking the following precautions:

We are making this transition to remote learning for our grades 6-12 students out of an abundance of caution. It  is our desire to provide consistent teaching and learning for all students. We believe that the transition to remote  learning in grades 6-12 provides the best option to do so at this time, given the number of individuals impacted  by quarantine.

Please continue to follow the safety precautions that prevent the spread of COVID-19. These include: 1)  staying home whenever you are sick; 2) wearing a face covering that covers your mouth and nose when around  others in public; 3) keeping at least six feet from others; and 4) washing your hands and/or sanitizing frequently.

We appreciate your ongoing support and collaboration. Stay safe and be well.

Sincerely,

Brian T. Pulvino

Superintendent
