FULTON, NY – The Fulton Public Library is looking for people who have lived or worked in Fulton and have stories to tell about those experiences.
For the second year, the library will be offering its Fulton Memoir Project.
The theme for this year’s project is business and education.

In 2013, a successful version of the project supported 41 people as they crafted a memoir essay collected in a book entitled “Fulton: The Stories from Our Past that Inspire Our Future.”
“The success of last year’s project benefited our community in several ways,” said Betty Mauté, director of the Fulton Public Library. “People who participated in our classes had the opportunity to develop their writing skills.”
Also, readers of the book learned about Fulton history and the friends and neighbors who wrote about their lives.
“Because the book was such a successful fundraiser for us, we are able to continue offering the Memoir Project at no cost to the community,” Mauté added.
Jim Farfaglia worked with the library to provide the project and will return as its coordinator.
“Overseeing the Memoir Project was a highlight of my life,” the local author said. “It was so gratifying to work with people who have led such interesting lives and to help them get a part of their amazing story down. I’ve already talked with many people who have equally memorable stories and are ready to begin developing them.”
Participants will be asked to conjure up memories such as working in a local factory, owning a family-run business, recalling a humorous anecdote from school or honoring an influential teacher.

They can chose to write their memoir while attending one of Farfaglia’s classes at the library or on their own after meeting with Farfaglia and understanding the project goals.
The project begins in May, but those interested should contact the library now to register.
For more information or to sign up to participate, contact the Fulton Public Library at (315) 592-5159 or Farfaglia at (315) 402-2297 or via email: [email protected].
