Fulton Man, Dog, Killed In Schroeppel Crash

SCHROEPPEL, NY – A Fulton man and his dog died Wednesday in a crash on Route 12.

A motorcycle, operated by 53-year-old Robert Lightenfield of Fulton, collided head-on with another vehicle at about 7:09 p.m., according to State Police.

Lightenfield and a dog riding in a carrier on the motorcycle were killed, police said.

Lightenfield was westbound on a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, traveling westbound on CR 12 when he crossed over into the eastbound lane and was struck head-on by a 1967 Ford Mustang, troopers said.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mustang, 56-year-old Nick E. Lannie, and a passenger, 60-year-old Karen K. Lannie, both from Central Square, were transported by ambulance to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.

The investigation is continuing.
