FULTON, NY – The Fulton Police Department is attempting to identify two subjects that have entered residences in the City of Fulton by using deceptive techniques on the homeowner.  Residents will later discover that items are missing from the home.

Over the past couple of weeks, the Fulton Police Department has investigated a number of complaints in which residents have reported allowing subjects into their homes, later discovering that items have been stolen.  Initial reports show that the subjects are targeting the elderly.

The subjects, a male and female will knock on the door of the home.  Upon the resident answering the door, the subjects will convince the resident that they are acquaintances of them or their family.

They will also claim to have vehicle trouble or use some other type of deception in order to gain access to the house. Once inside, they will engage the homeowner in conversation in an attempt to distract them.

The subjects will remain inside the residence for a short period of time, sometimes in view of the resident and sometimes out of view.

The subjects will then leave under the guise that they will return to visit at a later time. The homeowner will then later discover that item(s) are missing or stolen from the home.

No violence or threats of force have been reported.

The Fulton Police Department is asking all residents in the City of Fulton to be wary of any unfamiliar subjects that approach their homes.

Residents are encouraged to utilize peepholes or windows to identify anyone knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell.  They should never allow anyone they are not familiar with into their homes.

The Fulton Police Department is attempting to identify the two subjects.

Initial reports indicate that the subjects are a male and female, approximately 25-35 years of age.

Anyone who has experienced this type of activity, or has information helpful in the investigation, is asked to contact the Fulton Police Department at 598-2007.
