Fulton Police sent an underaged person into eight local stores and bars to try to buy alcohol.
All eight of the locations did the right thing, police say: They said no.
But police charged a Fulton man who agreed to go into a store and buy alcohol for the underaged wound-be drinker.
Ronald W. Tompkins, 21, of 401 Cayuga St. was ticketed for unlawfully dealing with a child.
The police department recognized the eight establishments who did not sell alcohol: Upper Landings; Muskie’s; Fran’s Riverfront; Lakeview Lanes; Red Brick Pub; Price Chopper; Byrne Dairy; Nice-n-Easy.
The effort is funded by a state grant provided by the County of Oswego Council on Alcoholism and Addiction.
Police urge anyone with information on possible underage alcohol possession to call 598-4504 or the confidential police department TIPS line at 593-TIPS.
