Hannibal’s school district voters will decide the fate of a budget that would raise taxes within the limits of the state’s new tax cap law.
The Board of Education Wednesday approved a budget proposal to send to voters. The budget:
The budget will add three part-time positions to beef up academic intervention services for upper junior high students.
Voters can hear details of the budget at a public hearing on May 7 at 6:30 in the Board of Education room at the high school. The public vote takes place the following week on the statewide budget voting day.
This year’s budget process was marked by the absence of the drama and conflict that had been present the previous two years. Board member Donna Ingersoll thanked district officials for trying “to be more transparent and to answer our questions. I appreciate it.”
