Hannibal Fatal Fire Victim Identified

HANNIBAL, NY – The victim of yesterday’s (Dec. 14) mobile home fire in the town of Hannibal has been positively identified as 73-year-old Richard I. Sawyer, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation indicates that an accidental fire started in one of the bedrooms of a mobile home located at 273 Peat Bed Road.

Richard was unable to escape the smoke and flames and died as a result of the fire.

The investigation into the cause of the fire centers on a propane fueled space heater that was being utilized in the area of origin.
