FULTON, NY – On Tuesday, Fulton Police levied assault and endangering charges against 20-year-old Carl James Kaufmann III, of Erie Street in Fulton.
The charges stem from a report of suspected child abuse.
At about 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the Oswego Health Urgent Care in Fulton for a report of an injury to a child.

It was discovered that a four-month old infant had suffered a serious leg injury while in the care of Kaufmann earlier in the day.
It is alleged that Kaufmann did intentionally cause serious physical injury by squeezing the infant’s leg, causing the femur to fracture.
Kaufmann was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned in Fulton City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Public Safety Center in lieu of $25,000 cash/$50,000 bond.
The infant was transported from Fulton to Upstate University Hospital by ambulance.
