The New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) announced the winners of the prestigious NYSEDC Marketing Awards at the organization’s Annual Meeting in Cooperstown, NY, on May 22.

“This competition, which is open to economic development organizations throughout the state, provides NYSEDC with an unprecedented opportunity to recognize its members for the outstanding promotional work they do for the regions and communities they serve,” said Deborah Flack, NYSEDC Marketing Director.

The judges reviewed each entry for overall creativity and impact; copy clarity; appropriateness of message; and presentation of information (design/layout). Web sites were also assessed on organization and navigability; accessibility; and data quality. This year’s judges included JoAnne Latham of Eric Mower and Associates, Richard Kline of Shannon Rose; and Lisa Mehigan of Mehigan & Bellone Associates. Judging was coordinated by Joseph Russo, chair of NYSEDC’s marketing committee and a senior economic development specialist with National Grid.

Winners fell into one of two categories: Budget Level A = budgets less than $60,000; Budget Level B = more than $60,000. Specific award categories are Best in Class, Certificate of Excellence, and Honorable Mention.
