Oswego Industries Supporting HealthWay In New Contract

FULTON – Getting a handle on the COVID-19 pandemic requires all hands on deck, and Oswego Industries is playing a critical part in protecting at-risk populations.

Oswego Industries is conducting pre-assembly work for filters that remove particles up to 10 times smaller than the ones linked to coronavirus.

The agency, a Fulton-based nonprofit agency that supports adults with developmental disabilities, is conducting pre-assembly work on over 3,000 filters for HealthWay as the company works to provide air purifiers designed to filter out particles 10 times smaller than the ones linked to coronavirus.

Oswego Industries has a longstanding partnership with HealthWay, which is based in Pulaski, to provide quality assurance work on the company’s air purifiers. The work provides opportunities for people with disabilities to gain real-world employment experience as part of support plans that agency staff tailor to each person in its programming.

The increase in contract work comes as HealthWay continues work on 10,000 portable air purifiers for the nation’s largest school district—New York City.

Oswego Industries has been working to support the wider community throughout the pandemic, including by mass-producing reusable face masks and increasing its production of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare clients.

“This new work with HealthWay will allow us to provide more opportunities for both our staff and the people we support,” said Igor Kasovski, Director of Operations at Oswego Industries. “We are happy to be able to support HealthWay in protecting our region against airborne illnesses like COVID-19.”

For over 50 years, Oswego Industries has provided services and supports for adults with disabilities while partnering with local businesses to deliver production and workforce solutions. Its mission is to be a partner in the development of comprehensive community services designed to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, by providing the necessary support programs to enable individuals to grow with dignity and achieve their highest level of independence and self-fulfillment.

Person-centered services include pre-vocational and vocational training, supported employment and day habilitation programs. Its sister agency, The Arc of Oswego County, provides services to children and seniors with disabilities: together, they create a comprehensive support system for Oswego County residents with disabilities.
