Phoenix Lock Drawbridge Stuck

by Contributor | July 7, 2009 7:33 am

The State Canal Corporation is advising boaters with tall boats that they may not get past the locks in Phoenix for a while.

The drawbridge in Phoenix became stuck in the raised position Sunday.  Workers are raising and lowering the bridge by hand while they fix the problem.

Meantime, boats taller than 10 1/2 feet may not  be able to pass under the bridge.

Reports NewsChannel 9[1]:

“The director of the Canal Corporation tells us the problem is with an electric motor which raises and lowers the bridge”
