OSWEGO, NY – There are two upcoming classes being held at the Oswego Branch Office of the Red Cross, 129 W. Second St.
The first class will be held on Nov. 21.
The second class will be held on Dec. 28.
Both of the scheduled dates are days when the kids are out of school.
The classes will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a break for lunch.
Each student should bring a lunch.
Participants learn the skills necessary to care for youngsters, both siblings and other children.
Babysitting is one of the few opportunities youth this age have to earn their own money.
This training opportunity affords parents with young children to choose babysitters who have had the training they need in order to care for and have fun with the children left in their care.
The class prepares the babysitters to make the decision they will need to make while they are babysitting.
It teaches them to be confident and capable when dealing with children and potential emergency situations.
The participants are also given the tools they need to assess potential babysitting opportunities to be sure they are not putting themselves in a harmful situation or a situation they are not able to handle.
For more information or to register for this class, call 343-0967.
Class size is limited and on a first come first serve basis.
The American Red Cross is always seeking to train instructors for its Health and Safety classes.
If you would be interested in becoming a babysitter’s training instructor, contact the Oswego office at 343-0967 or Syracuse office at 234-2200.
