FULTON, NY – Jane Murphy (left), executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County, left, was introduced recently during a Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting by President Diane Cooper-Courier.
Murphy said there are over 17,000 adults in Oswego County that cannot read above a 5th grade level. The volunteers receive training and are matched with an adult learner who then meet at a public location that is convenient to both of them.
Those interested in becoming a tutor can contact Literacy Volunteers at 342-8839. Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at Riverside Inn. To learn more about Rotary, those interested can call 592-4486.
