FULTON, NY – The 36th annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute is slated for this weekend, with the bulk of the action jam packed on Saturday, May 27.
To start the celebrations, the carnival portion of the weekend will open Friday evening (May 26) offering carnival rides, games and food.

The fun will continue the following morning (Saturday, May 27) as the Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. running east to west through the city on Broadway.
The parade has been organized by Cre8 Studios L.L.C. following this year’s parade theme, “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
2017 Veteran of the Year, Lawrence Macner will act as Grand Marshal for the parade.
Macner, born in Utica, lasted a 28-year military career including six years of active duty with the United States Air Force and 22 years with the NY Air National Guard.
“I feel humbled and honored to be chose as Veteran of the Year, as part of that honor is to be Grand Marshal of the Fulton Memorial Day Parade,” Macner said.
The parade will lead the public to the Fulton War Memorial parking area where the carnival fun will continue throughout the day and night.
Inside the Fulton Community Center, food and drinks aplenty will be available.
Sausage, steak, chicken dinners, hotdogs, hamburgers, french fries, pizza and fried dough will be available for purchase as provided by the Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary, and Sunrise Rotary service clubs of Fulton, among others.
Music entertainment will flood the stage inside the Fulton Community Center beginning after the parade and ending with the main act, Dan Elliot and the Monterays beginning at 8 p.m.
Dan Elliot and the Monterays, made up of Dan Elliot as lead vocals, Ron Lauback as lead guitar and vocals, Ronnie Dark as bass guitar and vocals, Wayne Muller as keyboards and vocals, and Dave Miller on drums and vocals, are known as Upstate New York’s longest working band, celebrating 55 years in the music business this year.
To cap it off, fireworks will launch over Lake Neatahwanta beginning at 9:30 p.m.
The city of Fulton acts as the event sponsor while other major sponsors for the Memorial Day Salute include Pathfinder Bank and Universal Metal Works as parade sponsors, Community Bank and Oswego Health as fireworks sponsors, and Fulton Savings Bank as the stage sponsor.
Planning for the event begins as early as February, with a committee composed of representatives from the Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary, and Sunrise Rotary service clubs, along with the Veterans’ Council of Fulton.
