Gail Tosh To Challenge Will Barclay’s Seat For State Assembly

OSWEGO – Gail Tosh has announced that she is running again for the New York State Assembly in the upcoming November election, to represent the 120th District.

Tosh is running on a platform of change to unseat Republican Will Barclay, who has held the seat for 17 years and whose father represented the area in the New York Senate for twenty years before that.

“Here in the 120th, we have one of the lowest life expectancies in the state and we haven’t seen any improvement in the years Will Barclay has been in office, in fact, it’s gotten worse,” Tosh said, referencing data showing that over the last 17 years, the district mortality ranking has gone from 38th to 52nd in the state. “Combine that with high infant mortality, drug addiction, and mental health barriers and we have an existential health crisis on our hands. As your representative, my sole focus will be to improve the quality of life in our community, not to win partisan leadership contests.”

A farmer, hunter, and educator, Tosh lives on a 1 acre farm in Baldwinsville with her wife Jen and their two children. She has been a part of the community since 2013. Tosh believes that her experience with so many of the issues facing members of the district will make her a strong advocate for the needs of the 120th district, which includes most of Oswego County, as well as parts of Onondaga and Jefferson Counties..
