Heat Advisory For Oswego County From 11 A.M. To 8 P.M. Today

UPDATE: The Heat Advisory has ended.
OSWEGO COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory[1] for Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Genesee, Livingston, and Ontario counties beginning today at 11 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m.
The NWS expects heat index values of 95 to 99 degrees. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses[2] to occur.
The NWS advises people to prepare in the following ways:
- Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
- Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
- Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
- Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
- To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
- Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
The NWS[3] forecast (Oswego County Airport, Fulton) for today and tomorrow:
- Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 13 to 15 mph.
- Tonight: A chance of showers, mainly after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Monday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
