OSWEGO COUNTY – School districts across Oswego County counted up their ballots for their 2020-2021 budgets last night, June 16, and the unofficial results are as follows.
Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District
Proposed budget[1]: $33,166,285 (+0.95% change from last year)
The budget passed with 538 voting yes and 336 voting no. The three other propositions – transportation, construction and vehicles – also passed.
The Board of Education candidates received the following number of votes. Shawn Clark- 600; Mark Mattison- 559; John Britton- 372; and James Corbett- 159.
Central Square Central School District
Proposed budget[2]: $81,325,857 (+1.51% change from last year)
The budget passed with 2,097 voting yes and 1,046 voting no. The proposition for a transportation vehicles purchase was passed with 2,156 voting yes and 984 voting no.
The Board of Election seats with the highest votes are Kristy Fischmann with 2,268 votes, Michael Lawyea with 2,128 votes and Steven Patch with 2,165 votes.
Fulton City School District
Proposed budget[3]: $73,777,000 (+0.58% change from last year)
The budget was approved with 1,552 voting yes and 810 voting no. The transportation proposition was approved with 1,474 voting yes and 862 voting no. Board of Education members re-elected are Brenda Abelgore, Robbin Griffin and Dave Cordone. Dennis Merlino was elected for the open library trustee seat.
Votes were ratified in a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. and was live streamed here[4].
Hannibal Central School District
Proposed budget[5]: $35,210,500 (+2.91% change from last year)
The budget and all propositions were approved. Jessica McNeil, Greg Hilton and Jack Pope received the most votes for seats on the Board of Education.
Mexico Academy and Central School District
Proposed budget[6]: $57,619,200 (-0.4% change from last year)
The budget passed with 1,234 voting yes and 595 voting no. The bus proposition also passed with 1,091 voting yes and 760 voting no. The student health center proposition was approved with 980 voting yes and 868 voting no. Sue Teifke, Jim Emery and Darlene Upcraft were elected to three year terms for the Board of Education.
The results of the MACS budget vote were announced at a Special BOE Meeting tonight at 6 p.m. The live stream of the meeting can be found here[7].
Oswego City School District
Proposed budget[2]: $88,505,455 (+2.87% change from last year)
The budget passed with 2,594 voting yes and 1,380 voting no. The proposition for the purchase of busses passed with 2,577 voting yes and 1,397 voting no. Proposition #3 to establish a capital reserve fund passed with 2,681 voting yes and 1,281 voting no.
The five Board of Education candidates with the most votes include: Pamela Dowd- 2,971 votes; James McKenzie- 2,715 votes; Lisa Glidden- 275 votes; Brett Smith- 192 votes; Sam Tripp- 115 votes. The library trustee candidate with the most votes is Cynthia Fatiga with 3,098 votes.
Phoenix Central School District
Proposed budget[8]: $47,335,500 (+2.19% change from last year)
The budget passed with 1192 voting yes and 508 voting no. The bus purchase proposition passed with 1182 voting yes and 527 voting no. The Board of Education candidates voted in include Wayne Halstead- 1272 votes; Earl Rudy- 1267 votes; and write-in candidate Katherine Loveland Kehn with 31 votes.
Pulaski Academy and Central Schools
Proposed budget[9]: $27,617,000 (+1.18% change from last year)
The budget passed with 608 voting yes and 168 voting no. Voters also approved a proposition to withdraw $100,000 from the bus purchase reserve, and elected Travis Rice and Jan Hefti to three-year terms on the Board of Education.
Sandy Creek Central School District
Proposed budget[10]: $23,240,836 (+0.93% change)
The budget passed with 590 voting yes and 213 voting no. Michele Warner was elected to the Board of Education with 703 votes. There were 26 votes for write-in candidates.
