OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office announced today that 23 employees and six inmates in the correctional facility have tested positive for COVID-19, and will not be responding to calls about an excessive number of people in a private residence.

In the announcement, Sheriff Don Hilton said all staff and inmates are being tested and he anticipates the number of positive cases will increase.

“As we head into the holiday season, I encourage our residents to use common sense and make safe choices for your families,” Hilton said. “Please social distance when possible, isolate and get tested if you are symptomatic.”

Also in the announcement, Hilton said the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office “will not be responding to complaints of excessive persons in a private residence.”

Currently indoor and outdoor gatherings at private residences are limited to no more than 10 people on a statewide[1] level.
