14-Year-Old Arrested For School Violence Threat In Mexico

On Friday, March 23, State Police in Pulaski received a call from a parent of a Mexico Middle School student who advised that her 12-year-old daughter received a message, from an unknown source, of a possible school shooting on Monday, March 26 at the Mexico Middle School.

State Police immediately began an investigation into this threat which included assistance from the Troop D Computer Crime Unit.

As a result of the investigation, State Police said today, March 24, a 14-year-old was arrested for one count of Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor and issued an Oswego County Family Court appearance ticket.

The name of the juvenile will not be released due to their age.

State Police will continue to work closely with school officials to ensure that teachers, staff, and students in the Mexico Central School District have a safe environment in which to be productive teachers and learners.
